Blue Star District in Greater San Antonio

The Blue Star Arts Complex sits along the San Antonio River in Southtown, across from King William. The complex about page states Hap Veltman and Bernard Lifshutz purchased the Blue Star Ice and Cold Storage warehouses in 1985 and opened Blue Star Contemporary in 1986 after SAMA cancelled a local contemporary show. The site calls the project the city's first mixed-use development and the seed of its creative economy.

How the place actually works

Blue Star is a privately owned mixed-use property with apartments, restaurants, galleries, studios, and Contemporary at Blue Star. Lifshutz Companies still owns the development per the complex about page. Individual residential units may sit under condo or rental regimes with their own documents. This is not an incorporated city and not one master HOA covering all of Southtown.

What you pay besides the house

City, county, and school-district taxes plus any building or condo association on the unit. Verify the resale certificate for that address.
